A 6-year English-taught Medical Doctor (MD) program (360 ECTS) at Tbilisi State Medical University, from basic sciences to clinical rotations and internships.

Pre-clinical

Basic Sciences Foundation

Years 1–2

Fundamental modules in Biophysics, Anatomy, Histology-Cytology-Embryology, Biochemistry, Physiology, Medical Psychology, Molecular Genetics, plus general education like Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Medical Ethics.

Pathophysiology

Preclinical Sciences

Years 2–3

Preclinical modules including Pathologic Anatomy, Pathologic Physiology, Microbiology, Immunology, Pharmacology, Hygiene & Ecology, Propedeutics of Internal Medicine, General Surgery, and Topographic Anatomy.

Transition to clinical modules with Internal Medicine (Cardiology, Pulmonology, Endocrinology), Surgery, Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, plus Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and Evidence-Based Medicine.

Major rotations in Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Neurology, Orthopedics, Psychiatry, Dermatology, ENT, Infectious Diseases, Anesthesiology, and Ophthalmology.

Advanced Specialties

Year 5–6

Specialty training in Cardiology, Laboratory Medicine, Thoracic Surgery, Primary Care Pediatrics, plus integrated modules on systems like Respiratory, Cardiovascular, Gastrointestinal, Urogenital, and Neuroscience.

Internship

Internship & Practice Prep

Year 6

Clinical internships, emergency medicine, research projects, clinical skills in communication and aid, Health Management, preparing for licensing, residency, and evidence-based practice as junior doctors.
